Let's talk about the PH of the pool
pH is a measure of the degree of acidity and alkalinity of the
ideal water so that it does not harm our health.
As we will see below, it is very important
both for your health and for the pool itself.
It is necessary to check the PH levels regularly.
to ensure the optimal condition of the pool water.
It is advisable that optimal PH levels,
are between: 7.2 and 7.4.
In the market, you can find kits to check, among other parameters, the pH level, you have from manual to automatic options.
Manual mode
We take the Kit (the pH zone is usually marked in red on the cap), remove both caps and take some water from the pool. On the yellow side we will check the chlorine, on the red side the pH, for this we will add a tablet for pH control or, as quickly as possible, we can use a few drops of Phenol Red (the bottle of red liquid) on the water sample taken.
In a few seconds the water will turn coloured and in the same kit you will see the levels and what colour it should be, and you will know if it is correct, high or low.
Automatic mode
We give you the simple option of TruTest, which checks PH, Chlorine, Bromine, Water Alkalinity (we will talk about this in another post), etc.
For this purpose, there are strips that, when immersed in the pool water, will be soaked in water. Then, we will insert the strip into the machine, which will give us the current pH levels of the pool.
These are some of the most common ones, which you can find in our store:
When values drop below 6:
May cause irritation to the skin, mucous membranes and eyes.
If they are extremely lower than 6, not only is it a high risk for your health, but even elements such as cement or metals in the pool are at risk of rapid corrosion.
When values tend to be high (above 8):
It should be noted that the higher the excess pH, the less effect the chlorine will have, thus destabilizing all the levels in the pool.
In addition, the lime in the water does not dissolve and can easily form scale on the tiles, walls and pipes, which can be very expensive.
* Lower the pH: PH Minor/Minus (-): To lower it when it is excessively high.
* Raise the pH: PH Elevator/Plus ( ): To raise it when it is excessively low.
You can find both formats in liquid, powder or granule form.
We generally recommend granules, since it is easier not to overdo the quantities and you can always add more, and it dissolves more slowly than the liquid that goes straight.
Generally, the pH tends to be very high, so the most commonly used product is the PH minor to lower it.
You also have options for automatic pH dosing for swimming pools.
Consult our store and we will send you a quote without obligation.

The pH dosing machine is programmed with the values you want the pool to have.
A measuring probe ensures that the pH remains at the programmed values.
If the probe detects that the pH has increased according to the programmed values, it activates the pump to give a pH injection to the pool.
This PH is extracted from a container or bottle commonly called PH Minor (Sulfuric Acid) to send it to the pool, thus reducing the PH levels.
It is important to calibrate these machines once or twice a year by cleaning the probe. You just have to follow the instruction manual, it is very simple, however you always have the option of calling your pool expert.
